What Cooking with Vi collects, why, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted.

Who we are
Cooking with Vi is a personal food blog run by Viktoria, based in the Netherlands. The site is https://cookingwithvi.com. For anything on this page, write to info@cookingwithvi.com.
Because we are established in the EU, the General Data Protection Regulation applies to everyone who visits, wherever you are.
What we collect
Two things, both given deliberately by you, and both optional — you can read every recipe here without either.
| What | When | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your name, email address and comment | You leave a comment on a recipe | To publish the comment and reply. Your email is never published and never shown to other readers. | Until you ask us to remove it |
| Your email address | You sign up for new-recipe emails | To email you when a recipe is published | Until you unsubscribe |
We do not store your IP address with a comment, and there are no accounts to create.
Analytics and advertising
The site loads Google services that set cookies and process data about your visit. These are operated by Google, not by us.
| Service | Identifier | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | G-GXR0R2WGFS | Counts visits and shows which recipes are read, so Viktoria knows what to write next. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage. |
| Google Tag Manager | GTM-WCK6TQT | Loads the tags above. Collects nothing on its own. |
| Google AdSense | ca-pub-8789410999375320 | Shows the adverts that pay for the site, and may personalise them using cookies. |
You can turn off personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings, and opt out of Google Analytics with the browser add-on Google publishes. Our cookie policy lists each cookie individually.
Affiliate links
Some recipes list the equipment used, and those links go to Amazon. If you buy something after following one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Following the link lets Amazon see that you came from here, under their own privacy policy. Every such link is marked as sponsored in the page code.
Who else sees your data
Nothing is sold. Data reaches these companies only:
- Hostinger — hosts the site and its database, so comments and subscriptions sit on their servers.
- Google — for the analytics and advertising above.
- Amazon — only if you click an equipment link.
Google and Amazon are US companies, so some data leaves the EU. Both rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for those transfers.
Why we are allowed to do this
Comments and newsletter signups rest on your consent, given by submitting the form, and you can withdraw it at any time. Analytics and advertising cookies also require consent under the ePrivacy Directive.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct anything wrong
- delete it, including any comment you have left
- stop using it, or restrict how we use it
- hand it over in a portable format
Email info@cookingwithvi.com and we will act within one month. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and using it removes your address from the list entirely.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Dutch supervisory authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority where you live.
Children
This site is written for the adults doing the cooking. We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 16. If you believe a child has left a comment, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the site.
